Yeah that “muddy” guitar is deliberately distorted, “fuzz tone” - rock and rollers loved it sounded wilder and harder Its true they were teenagers in the 1950s and LOVED all the rock and roll (and doo wop!) greats of the time Little Richard Buddy Holly Chuck Barry etc they inspired them to form a band. So even though this track was written in 1968 and of its time, they were also very consciously paying homage their favourite inspirations ❤
